The development of the aviation industry at the Albatross Aviation Technology Park took another giant leap forward this week with construction starting on a second development at the facility.
Scientific Management Associates is developing the site which will be leased to Raytheon Australia to provide electronic warfare training services to the Australian Defence Force.
Shoalhaven Mayor Greg Watson said he was pleased and encouraged by the latest development at the technology park and the jobs it would create.
``This news is good for the Shoalhaven and development of the aviation industry at Albatross," he said.
The latest development will bring the total number of people employed at the site to more than 100.
Albatross Aviation Technology Park, a high-tech industrial subdivision, was a Shoalhaven City Council initiative, supported by the NSW Government through the Department of State and Regional Development.
Initial projections were that the estate would support about 1000 jobs by the year 2010.
The first development was the Kaman Aerospace International Support Centre for the Sea Sprite helicopter program.
Up to 100 people work from Kaman's facility on various contracts and for subcontractors within the Sea Sprite development program.
Councillor Watson said two more sales were pending at the aviation high-tech estate and the council expected to make an announcement about those developments by Christmas.
